Charles Barkley makes run at PGA Tour, plans to win Australian Open
Barkley believes the Southern Hemisphere could finally explain his swing.

SYDNEY — Charles Barkley has announced plans to pursue the PGA Tour and win the Australian Open, a strategy built around confidence, a passport and unresolved questions about qualification.
“I’m going down there to win,” Barkley said. “Everybody keeps asking about my swing. I’m asking why we’ve only tested it in one hemisphere.”
His camp believes the Coriolis effect could be the missing piece, although the first scientist contacted requested that his name be removed from the press release.
Barkley has ordered a new wedge, studied several Australian courses and asked whether the leaderboard can be displayed upside down if necessary.
Asked about the field’s professional experience, he said he had spent decades criticizing elite athletes and considered that transferable credit.
Shaquille O’Neal offered to caddie on the condition that he could comment during the backswing. Barkley said that would be “terrible” and accepted.
At press time, organizers were still explaining that a declaration of intent does not reserve the trophy.
