The itinerary is missing. The sunglasses are enormous. The explanation contains the words “competitive advantage.”

LAS VEGAS — An investigation into Steve Sarkisian’s mysterious Las Vegas trip has uncovered three conflicting itineraries, a remarkably confident pair of sunglasses and a hotel receipt whose only legible item is “additional strategy.”

Texas officials insist the visit was entirely routine. Asked what routine involved arriving at a casino dressed like a man preparing to purchase a casino, the school said the coach takes professional development seriously.

“He went to study decision-making under pressure,” a spokesman said. “There are many places to do that. This one happened to have chandeliers and a rewards program.”

A witness described Sark staring at a roulette table for twenty minutes before announcing that everyone else was playing in two dimensions. He then reportedly moved a cocktail napkin diagonally and called it a recruiting victory.

The coach declined to confirm whether the trip was connected to Texas’s State Fair complaint, saying that explaining the relationship would compromise at least four dimensions of his chess strategy.

Reporters have struggled to reconstruct the schedule. One source said Sark attended a closed-door seminar. Another said he had dinner. A third said those could be the same event if the dinner was sufficiently expensive.

The most closely examined photograph shows the coach outside an elaborate casino entrance. Experts disagree about what it reveals, other than that somebody had a very good evening choosing a jacket.

Texas has refused to release additional receipts, arguing that line-item disclosure could reveal the team’s approach to third-and-long. The SEC responded that it had never previously classified room service as a protected scheme.

Sark offered a brief explanation on his return: “What happens in Vegas prepares you for what happens at the State Fair.”

Asked to elaborate, he put his sunglasses back on. The interview was held indoors.

The Sideline Report’s investigation remains open, pending access to the blazer at the cleaners.
