STILLWATER, OK — Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith may be the most talented player in college football. Unfortunately for him, Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker has decided the Heisman Trophy is no longer up for discussion.

“Jeremiah’s a great player,” Mestemaker reportedly said. “But somebody has to throw him the damn ball.”

The former North Texas walk-on, who once struggled to get college coaches to return his emails, has apparently decided to skip the traditional Heisman campaign and proceed directly to the acceptance speech.

Sources inside the Cowboys program say Mestemaker has already cleared space in his trophy case, ordered an orange velvet jacket for New York and asked whether Heisman voters accept threats by certified mail.

Smith’s representatives declined to comment, although one source close to the Ohio State program reportedly asked, “Who the hell is Drew Mestemaker?”

“That’s exactly what we want them thinking,” an Oklahoma State assistant said.

Meanwhile, former Cowboys coach Mike Gundy has reportedly offered to return to Stillwater as Mestemaker’s personal chauffeur.

“I’M A MAN! I’M 59! AND I’LL DRIVE THE DAMN BUS!” Gundy reportedly declared.
