DALLAS — Dallas police have entered a standoff with Barry Switzer at the Adolphus after the former Oklahoma coach reportedly threw his 234th television out a hotel window and announced that the celebration was still in the first quarter.

“We’re asking him to step away from the window,” a negotiator said. “He keeps asking whether we brought any more televisions.”

The Boz has assumed responsibility for heavy lifting, while Mack Brown maintains a handwritten tally and periodically requests a replay review. One disputed appliance was ruled a microwave, keeping the official TV count at 234.

Hotel management says it has exhausted every available television, including the lobby display, the gym screens and a small unit last used to show conference guests a welcome video in 1997. Switzer has reportedly requested a transfer portal.

Police attempted to establish contact through the room’s television. That television was subsequently established on the sidewalk.

“Barry, this has to end,” a negotiator called through a megaphone.

“Then quit giving me late checkout,” Switzer replied.

Downstairs, Mattress Mack continued adding to the mattress pile, calling it both a public service and the most successful product demonstration of his career. Nobody has been hurt, although several extended warranties are now under considerable strain.

At press time, officers had agreed to send up dinner. Switzer asked whether it came with a TV.
